Recently Scandinavian Airguns changed its name to Scandinavian Arms, with the aim to offer premium shooting gear to airguns as well as normal firearms. In this move, they expanded beyond the airgun market and acquired the JET-01 firearms chassis system and accessories from Long Range Design (LRD Sweden).

The target is to develop and market premium shooting gear, for a great variety of calibers and disciplines, from airguns to long-range firearms. At the IWA 2023 exhibition, they had a large stand, with all of their new products on display.
Scandinavian Arms teamed up with Schmidt & Bender and the result of their collaboration is the SA LRS – The Light Recoil Scope. Below it can be seen in a Spuhr mount on a JET chassis for long-range target shooting. I tried this system out to 800 meters (including this riflescope), and it’s pretty fantastic.
Essentially, this is a Schmidt & Bender 5-25×56 PMII riflescope with the features that make it difficult to export (i.e. military/ITAR specifications) removed. As much as customers like tactical features, do we really need them? The LRS is still waterproof down to 3 meters.

Instead of a Schmidt & Bender 5-25×56 that reaches the price range of $3,500 to $5,000, this version is supposed to sell in the €2,500 region ($2,700).
The name LRS – Light Recoil Scope will probably confuse, and unfortunately scare away, a lot of interest. People may think it is only for airguns, which is far from the case. The only caliber you’re not recommended to use is the .50 BMG, which leaves quite a few potential firearms to use it on…

While the specs might be a little lower, and this riflescope is not as “tactical” as some “operators” might want it to be, the overall performance is still there and I think the riflescope looks better than the usual black S&B. For around half the price of the normal S&B this is a steal for anyone looking for a main riflescope, or a secondary for their training gun.
